Preliminary plans and a cost estimate for two restroom projects at Cabool High School’s “A” building were presented at the February 8 meeting of Cabool Board of Education.
Gary Barbee of Sam W. Winn Associates outlined the proposed projects for the school board. The first project would convert a storage area at the north end of the main hall into a one-unit handicap-accessible restroom that would include a baby-changing station. This restroom would be non-gender specific, able to be used by males or females.
The second project is a complete renovation of the present boys’ restroom near the south end of the main hall. This facility would become accessible for persons with physical disabilities and would be finished similar to the restrooms in the high school “B” building, which have automatic sinks, hand dryers and flushing systems.
Barbee’s estimate for the projects was over $100,000.
Superintendent Robin Ritchie recommended the school board give Sam A. Winn Associates the authority to complete the plans and put the projects out for bids. The board gave its approval.
The board anticipates being able to approve bids in March or April, which would allow the projects to be completed over the summer before classes resume in August.
