Cabool High School Students participated in an interactive human cadaver demonstration April 12 at the Practical Anatomy facility at Saint Louis University.

The demonstration exposed students to the physiological and anatomic relationships of the major organ systems of the human body and described to them how those systems can be affected by disease. Students enrolled in the anatomy and physiology class at CHS had the opportunity to attend.

“This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I believe that this was an amazing learning activity for the students,” CHS science teacher Brian Thiele said. “We would like to thank the administration for allowing the students to attend. We would also like to thank Mrs. (Allison) Howe for helping sponsor the trip.”

One focus of the demonstration was the fact that the body consists of numerous organ systems that are interrelated. The function and interaction of these systems is closely regulated. In basic terms, disease results in system deregulation. Finally, disease in one organ system will inevitably negatively impact other organ systems.”
